Chemometrics (WSC-7) will be held
February 15-19, 2010, in the out-of-town hotel Raivola,
located at the picturesque environs of Saint Petersburg, 60 km
to the north of the city.

Special
issue of Chemometrics
and Intelligent Laboratory Systems is now available. The
issue contains selected papers presented at Sixth Winter
Symposium on Chemometris (WSC-6)
in Kazan, Russia, February 2008. There are 15 paper written by
scientists from Russia, Denmark, Latvia, Finland, Italy,
Romania, South Africa, and USA .
The issue is open with Editorial by Chris
Marks
"Drushbametrics — My Russian adventures", that is
available here.

of Russian chemometricians (left to right): Alfred
Sulejmanov, Alexey Pomerantsev
and Oxana Rodionova took part
in the First Symposium of South African Chemometrics
Society (Stellenbosch
University). The
following presentations were given:
Alexey Pomerantsev "Acceptance areas for
multivariate statistical process control and classification"
Oxana Rodionova "Two-stage approach for
quality control of packed raw materials"
Alfred Suleimanov "Application of multivariate
analysis for prediction of polymer materials durability"
Additionally
two workshops "Chemometrics in Excel" were conducted - in Stellenbosch and in UNISA (Pretoria).
Alexey gave a lecture "Distance Learning Course in Chemometrics for Technological
and Natural-Science Mastership Education" in UNISA.

Two-days
course on chemometrics took place in the training unit of the
Perm petroleum refinery "LUKOIL-Permnefteorgsintez".
The
course goal was education of the methods applied for calibration
of the laboratory analyzer Guided
Wave.

Sixth
Winter Symposium on Chemometrics (WSC-6) took place in Kazan
city. It was preceded by a school that has attracted more then
50 students.
CAMO's
prize to the best student at WSC-6 School was awarded to
Svetlana Morzhukhina (Dubna Univer)
Elsevier prize for the best oral or poster presentation of a
young scientist got Kirill Blinov (ACD)
CAMO awards for for the best poster presentation were given to:
Natalia Ryumina (Samara State Technical Univ) - 1st place
Jarno Kohonen (LUT) - 2nd place
Elena Shabanova (Ins. of Geochemistry SB RAS) - 3rd place

CAMO
has suggested the special prices for The Unscrambler® software
that are valid for the Russian universities and Academy in the
year 2007.
This
is a single license which is private and can be installed on the
computers, laptops, etc, and used both at work and at
home.
This
is a ten-user network installation to be used by students. It
must be installed at a network and can only be accessed while
connected to the network where it is installed. This solution
comes with a minimum of 2 years subscription to the Annual
Upgrade and Support program.
